Remedial Massage, Pregnancy massage

As a Massage therapist for over 20 years, I use the massage/ bodywork to help release the physical and emotional patterns from the physical body.

As an Emmett practitioner (www.emmett-technique-hq.com), I unlock the physical and emotional blocks through a combination of Massage, Chinese cupping, Emmett therapy all the while using Reiki through the entire treatment.

Lymphatic

Lymphatic massage is a gentle, kind and yet powerful treatment able to help in so many ways.

The lymphatic system is part of the circulatory system, and a vital part of the immune system, comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph (from Latin lymph meaning water) directly towards the heart.

Lymphedema  (Blocked Lymphatic System), is a result of the impaired flow of the lymphatic system and can result in swelling of lymph glands, bloating and fluid retention.

The benefits are many. A lymphatic massage is fantastic for detox, lymphedema, fluid retention, diminishing chronic pain, loosening tight muscles, lowering heart rate, boosting skin tone, improving concentration and it is wonderful for stress as it calms the nervous system and aids sleep.

When used pre and post-operation, it can help reduce swelling and support healing and keeps your immune system healthy while assisting with pain management.

Effective treatment of the lymphatic system requires the connection of both mind and body.

I look forward to sharing this beautiful release and benefits with you. A beautiful accompaniment to massage and healing.

Chinese cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method used to relieve muscle tension as well as promote lymph and blood circulation, remove toxins from the body and encourage healing.

I consider Cupping as the inverse of massage. Rather than applying pressure to muscles, the suction uses pressure to pull skin, tissue and muscles upward. One of the best deep tissue techniques available, cupping involves applying glass, bamboo or plastic jars/suction cups to the skin. The skin and superficial muscle layers are gently drawn upwards into the cup and usually left for 5 to 10 minutes.

The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, remove “heat” and pull out the toxins that linger in your body’s tissues.

You usually will feel a tight sensation in the area of the cup. Often, this sensation is relaxing and soothing. Depending on your comfort level and assessment of the problem, cups may be moved around or left in place. Each treatment is unique to you on that particular day.

One very common area to be cupped is the back, also cups work well on other areas, too — particularly on fleshy sections of the body.

Cupping causes the skin to temporarily turn red, blue or purple, especially if there is an injury or energetic blockage under the area that was cupped. The skin discolouration can last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, but rarely painful. Once the marks have cleared, the procedure can be repeated until the condition or ailment is resolved, The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, remove “heat” and pull out the toxins that linger in your body’s tissues.

I use cupping in all my bodywork treatments for optimum results.
